DJ DADSTEP
Back in the days of Playgroup Festival we were putting on a whole lot of parties and events. It was generally at the end of the night when everything was a mess when we’d jump on the sound system and put of some serious pop music, the real kinda trash that everyone dances to at weddings.
Funny thing was, people loved it, so Dad’s Disco and DADSTEP become a regular fixture round parties, festivals and friends weddings! Over the years I’ve ended up playing all kinds of gigs around Europe, sharing my passion for all those terrible tunes we secretly love!
However, soul and blues have always been my real passion, the music I’m really about. Even when I play real up-beat dance sets or silly party sets they tend to be influenced by real heartfelt music. Because DJing has never been a commercial thing for me I've had the freedom to just have fun, which as really shaped the way I play.
Every set I play tends to be a different journey, it’s all about the people around me, and the place we share. I love the experience because it’s different every time. I’m lucky to say that music’s alway been a grounding part of my life, and through it I've met some of my closest friends.
RECORDINGs
Piano is the instrument I love the most, I’m not particularly good or well practiced, but something about it resonates with me. I love playing the piano, and even more so I love hearing really talented people play. Unfortunately I spend a lot of time on the road, so my time in front the piano is pretty limited.
I have a lot of friends within the music industry, so music production is one of these things I’m sure I’ll explore at some point. I’ve got a broad range of roughly composed music sitting on the back burners, for piano, guitar and other arrangements. Some of them I’d like to take into the studio, other I feel would be best played live in a band.
I’ve got some piano recording on SoundCloud, I tend to use the space as a musical sketch pad for rough ideas.
